What are the benefits of smart LED street light?
Cities around the world are already experimenting with intelligent LED street lighting systems that can be remotely controlled, not only can the cost of electricity be reduced, but it can also realize demand-driven lighting and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The current design goes even further: experts see connected lights as the nodes of smart city multi-functional communication networks.
Now, the main use of street lamps is lighting, however, LED street lamp will has more functions in the future. For example, when the dustbin is full, it notifies the garbage collection service center, or records the change in traffic volume, and enters the data into the intelligent transportation system (ITS). Street lighting will no longer be an isolated area, but part of a networked urban infrastructure.
Technicians can see worn parts in the distance, whenever an error or system detects a preset pattern, an alert is automatically issued to the employee, this increases the transparency of production, maintenance and resource use. Intelligent LED street lighting systems offer similar benefits, in order to identify defective lamps, there is no need to rely on night patrols or public complaints, and the system can display connected lighting in the center.
These LED street lights are not just for lighting, they are also "charging stations" and "measuring instruments". Similarly, connected streetlights are not only used for lighting, they become nodes in a multifunctional network.
In order to serve as a multi-function network, what requirements should the intelligent LED street lighting solution meet? Its basic structure must conform to the current diversified market solution. First, technicians need to install lamps with electronic devices, either in small boxes outside street lights or in lamps, and the LED manufacturer can integrate the hardware directly.
In addition to the hardware in the lamp, the mobile communications gateway is also used for long-distance exchange of data, these can be connected to street lamps or placed in a distribution network. In general, LED street light is fixed so that each gateway can reach the maximum number of nodes, receive the information from the node and forward it to the server infrastructure or local server in the cloud. Similarly, the gateway sends control instructions back to the node and indicates the switch or dimming.
